Down a hot and dusty road, Stravinsky’s soldier makes a fateful deal with the devil, and Turina’s brave bullfighter prays for his life before stepping into the ring with equal parts devotion and bravado. Behzad Ranjbaran ushers us into a 16th century Iranian garden representing paradise on earth, and Fauré’s elegant and exhilarating Piano Quartet carries forward memories of the evening church bells near his childhood home.
"One of the joys of hearing the Chameleon Arts Ensemble comes from Deborah Boldin’s whimsical thematic programming, mixing old and new, letting pieces echo and shed light on each other."
