Program

  • Zoltán Kodály, Sonatina for cello & piano
  • Jeremy Gill, Winternacht for flute, viola & harp – world premiere
  • Philippe Hersant, Im fremden Land for clarinet, string quartet & piano
  • Heitor Villa-Lobos, Quintette en forme de chôros, W231
  • Felix Mendelssohn, String Quintet No. 2 in B-flat Major, Op. 87

Join us at the crossroads of creativity and life…Villa-Lobos filters the instrumental serenades of Rio through his newly acquired Parisian lens, and Jeremy Gill shares glimpses of the delicate moments between night and day, life and death. Mendelssohn’s late String Quintet offers a thrilling view into his evolving style, marrying youthful effervescence with grand, near-orchestral textures and ever more direct and dramatic expression.

"One left, simply, with one's hearing enlarged. Not a small gift for a Sunday afternoon."
