Hailed by The Violin Channel for his “exceptional technical brilliance” and “striking musical intelligence,” Tianyou Ma is recognized for his distinctive artistic voice and refined musicianship. He has received numerous accolades, such as top prizes at the Michael Hill international Violin Competition, Sendai International Music Competition, Singapore International Violin Competition, J. S. Bach Barbash International Competition, and the Menuhin International Violin Competition.
As a soloist, Mr. Ma has appeared with major orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, and Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra. He has collaborated with leading chamber ensembles such as the Dover Quartet, Rosamunde Quartet, and Ysaÿe String Quartet.
A devoted chamber musician, Mr. Ma will join the Bowers Program of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center from 2027-30. He has appeared at prestigious festivals including Music@Menlo, Steans Institute at Ravinia Festival, Four Seasons Workshop, Music from Angel Fire and Verbier Festival Academy.
Mr. Ma will give his New York recital debut in April 2027 in Carnegie Hall Weill Recital Hall, presented by the Juilliard School as a recipient of the Gerschen Cohen Award. Also during the 2026-2027 season, he will appear at Emerald City Music, Chesapeake Music Festival, and CMS Lincoln Center Inside Chamber Music, and will perform with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Adelphi Orchestra, and others.
Tianyou Ma is currently pursuing the Artist Diploma program at The Juilliard School under the tutelage of Catherine Cho, for whom he also serves as Teaching Assistant. He recently completed his Master of Music at Juilliard as a Kovner Fellowship recipient and received the William Schuman Prize for outstanding achievement and leadership.
