  • Maurice Ravel, Sonata No. 1 for violin & piano “Posthume”

  • Laura Schwendinger, World Premiere for soprano, flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano & percussion

  • Gabriel Fauré, Piano Quintet No. 2 in c minor, Op. 115

Faure’s second piano quintet is a graceful summation of his life’s work, with equal parts youthful enchantment and autumnal wisdom. Sir Richard Rodney Bennett reanimates Debussy’s nymph, and Ravel’s early violin sonata hangs in the air like perfume hinting at his ravishing colors to come. Laura Schwendinger muses on themes of birth, death, and transfiguration in a brand-new work for our technicolor visions of the never-ending cycle of life.
