Program

  • Béla Bartók, Selections from 44 Duos for two violins, Sz. 98, BB 104
  • Franz Joseph Haydn, String Quartet in C Major, Op. 33, No. 3 “The Bird”
  • John Luther Adams, songbirdsongs for two piccolos & three percussion

Vibrant colors and avian associations open our virtual chamber music season, as we bring the concert hall to the outdoors for an intimate dialogue between people, music, and nature. “No one has yet explained why the free songs of birds are so simply beautiful,” writes John Luther Adams. “…beyond the realm of ideas and emotions, language and sense, we just may hear something of their essence.”

This program was recorded while “communing with nature” on the grounds of The Art Complex Museum in Duxbury, MA. Ticket holders will additionally be able to watch exclusive artist interviews, download PDF program books, and enjoy our much-loved essays on the music.
