Song, poetry, and myth come together in a classic recital program. Schubert’s virtuoso variations expand on the story of the wanderer’s love for the miller’s daughter, Jeremy Gill invents an imagined musical past from Ancient Greek drama, and Debussy launches a revolution in sound and form with the ethereal voice of the flute.

program

  • Samuel Barber, Canzone, Op. 38a
  • Francis Poulenc, Sonata, FP 164
  • Jeremy Gill, Parabasis
  • Claude Debussy, Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune (arr. Gustave Samazeuilh)
  • Franz Schubert, Variations on Trockne Blumen from Die schöne Müllerin, Op. 160, D. 802
