Damian Primis, a native of Eagle River, Alaska, has quickly gained a reputation as one of the most versatile bassoonists and multi-instrumentalists in the New York Metropolitan area, performing on both modern and period instruments. Mr. Primis performs extensively with the Metropolitan Opera, Philadelphia Orchestra, Absolute Ensemble, Bargemusic, the Handel and Haydn Society, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra in San Francisco, Orchestra of the 18th Century in Amsterdam, the New York City Ballet, the American Ballet Theater, Orpheus Chamber Ensemble and Tafelmusik in Canada. Mr. Primis was a member of the South Pacific and King and I orchestras at Lincoln Center, and is currently Principal Bassoon of the Sunset Boulevard orchestra on Broadway. Mr. Primis completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the Juilliard School as a scholarship student of Frank Morelli and David Carroll.
